Inspiration for Getting Back in the Saddle pt 2

God must be trying to tell me something.

I found this message online to inspire me and to keep me excuse and bullshit free. Sometimes I feel like I have legitimate reasons, other times I think I just buckle under the pressure. This speaks to me on so many levels.

My Lens: Bethany Bell

This shoot was actually from last year, just never posted.

I had always been a fan of Bethany; she is an extraordinary hairdresser, whose skills have graced many photo shoots, magazines, and landed her as a contestant on Oxygen's Hair Battle Season 2.

This was memorable shoot for many reasons. It was my last one for the year because my health was getting bad, and although I felt bad during this shoot, Bethany and crew's energy and comedy kept me going. Also, her friends must have been tracking her on foursquare or something because all these random people started to show up. They were good people, such as stylist Candace Whaley of Authentic8ke, model/runway coach Phillip Stokes, and my cousin Glenn, so I rolled with it.

A few behind the scenes

Inspiration for Getting Back in the Saddle

I'm thinking about planning some shoots for next month when I'm on vacation from my day job, and I found some inspiring words to motivate me. I think this works for graphic design as well as photography.

I can't help but to smile when I read this.

I am usually the voice of this poster to when friends ask me for advice, but I've found that I need it myself. Even before my health problems of last year, I found myself allowing the unknown, speed bumps, and uncertainty to get in the way of the creative process, or planning and executing photo shoots with models that I want to shoot with. I want a new start. I want to be more effective, to get rid of old habits that don't work and behavior that keeps me from progressing.

So I will be Fucking reading this poster whenever I am in doubt or or feel myself slipping back into old Fucking habits.

Lianne La Havas

Andrea just introduced me to a new artist she was listening to named Lianne La Havas. I believe shes from London. So pretty! I enjoyed looking (and listening) to this video for her song No Room For Doubt

Its easy to lump her into the Corrinne Bailey Rae category, especially since they're both slender, light skinned, "artsy-looking" girls who don't sing traditional r&b. I don't know how to classify her sound but I know I like it.
