Street Art

Normally when I see stuff plastered to the wall, I glance at it and think that its old movie posters, campaign stickers, local band flyers, etc. and keep walking. Time magazine profiles some amazing street artists that make you take notice.

Creativity right under our noses.

Back 2 Basics

I've been on a house music kick lately. I had to satisfy my urge to it really loud, so last week I went to Silk City for the back2basics night, one of the only places I can hear good house music, without me having to play it.

I picked a good night; Ant (NoizeTrip) was there promoting his party. Ursula Rucker, poetess supreme, was there. Rich Medina from the IIllvibe Collective (one of the few people who play house I like) was trippin (in a good way), and was about 7 feet tall. ?uestlove showed up & got on the drums with the band. I didn't even recognize Bilal . until I heard his vocals later during the bands' set!

With all these surprise guests-slash-legends, it was a pretty good for a Monday night.

Twelve Car Pileup

I love the 70's aesthetic of the typography in his posters. Mike Davis of Twelve Car Pileup really nails it with his style and colors on CD albums, posters, and even vinyl toys.

Jultane and Ava

Jultane is one of my truest, dearest friends. Over the years, we used to talk often, but saw each other very infrequently. Recently I haven't seen seen her since the wedding and the birth of her 1st extremely cute child named Ava. I had been threatened with bodily harm since last year to visit, so I finally made it over to spend some time and catch up on the changes of motherhood.

Lauren and Charney

I have to work on doing more design; I'm doing way more photography. It seems to be falling in my lap. At lest I'm keeping busy so I shouldn't complain.

I shot Lauren and her friend Charney a few weeks ago and we had a good time. I'm glad Charney could do make up; I already feel like Jay Manuel from Americas Next Top Model, directing their poses, now I gotta do make up and hair too? Well, whatever makes the shot better

Using make up artists' is definitely the next level of my advancement. It's such a difference. I like how things came out.

Illustrator Pat Kinsella

I was looking at some artwork hanging up in North Bowl and I discovered the work of fellow Tyler School of Art Alumni Pat Kinsella.

I like his brush stroke style; it reminds me of Image comic book The Maxx illustration.
