Although summer is over (I hate to say that) I'm still working out like crazy. I ran a mile in 12:20mins (a little slow for me) fueled by one of my favorite Nine Inch Nails songs.
Enjoy for those who dare

Seattle International Film Festival "Find" posters
These remind me a little of Ron J. Cala's work; bright colors, negative space created by silhouetted characters.

Summers End: Sundae @ The Piazza
Man, I have really been having fun there this summer. I am so glad I came out & kept going.

Interesting, new people, good times, awesome house music, too many photos to show!
Old Spice Ad: In Color
I saw this ad on the back of XXL magazine and other than the hilarious concept, I was glad to see two people of color in this ad.
Its a shame to even say that, but ever since Vibe and King closed their doors, I've noticed that advertising in "urban" ( I really hate that term) magazines is not only reduced to rims, fake ass diamond watches and porn, but the ads themselves are really poorly designed.
The worldwide branding company Saatchi and Saatchi is responsible for changing Old Spice's image from the whistling sailor deodorant our dad (and Ron Burgundy) used to a new modern audience, complete with a not-taking-yourself-too-serious attitude.
I'm glad that they completely avoided any stereotypes (the guy as a rapper and the girl as a video chick) and just made a solid ad.

Nils
I came across these amazing illustrations by French artist Nils. The site is in French, so look use your imagination when "reading." This is when Ms. Sordi's high school French classes come in handy; I can read French better than I can speak it.
His work ranges from Manga-inspired pin ups of sexy video vixens, little devil eared cartoon characters called Kama, to editorial illustrations.
An English language blog features the pin up work here, but it hasn't been updated
I'm definitely going to see if I can feature Nils. Bon chance!

"If you're nappy, you ain't happy..."
I already can't wait to see this documentary. I think Chris Rock (or Dave Chappelle) is the perfect one to bring us the truth + funny about our hair, products, customs and insecurities
