New Money? The Dollar ReDe$ign Project

United States Federal notes have gone through some changes in my lifetime, larger faces, holograms, bigger numbers, color changing ink, but I didn't think I would see this kind futuristic looking money.

The Dollar ReDe$ign Project is hoping to do just that by obtaining creative submissions from designers all over the country.

The American Dollar has not truly been redesigned since about the 1930s. The Dollar ReDe$ign Project is your opportunity to theoretically 'change' that.

The Dollar ReDe$ign Project hopes to bring about change for everyone. We want to rebrand the US Dollar, rebuild financial confidence and revive our failing economy.

I have honestly never thought about doing this. I don't think the country could handle a Black president and new looking money, lol especially when I think about the seldom used gold dollar and the Susan B. Anthony coins, but it is exciting to see the ideas and concepts. Maybe one day.

Look at the other design submissions here.

My lens: Paloma

I pretty much failed in my promise to post some of my photography, so I present Paloma, a cool woman I finally caught up with after meeting her in at the RM67 fashion show earlier this year.

I hope to shoot with her again very soon.

True Blood's Bloody Cover

I was so busy watching HBO's True Blood finale that I overlooked this cover for Rolling Stone's September issue, shot by Matthew Rolston. Saying this magazine was eye catching would be an understatement.

I when I look at this cover, I wonder about several things:

I wonder about the boundaries that separate art and pornography, the "envelope" thats being pushed, and whether it is a good, or bad thing. I wonder if this cover would have made it past the conceptual stage if the characters were Black. I wonder if there was any controversy, any protesting by the same people who claim to care about our morality. I wonder if the seeing the cover made people feel homophobic.

Y'know, just wondering...

A Cool MotherF@#r-Machete's Danny Trejo

I have enjoyed his menacing presence in numerous films and I smile whenever he lands a "good guy" role, like in Anchorman. The love for Danny by his fans is evident in how a fake trainer has now become a full length movie Machete this month. He is very high on my "People I Would Love to Shoot With" list. I love the character lines in this guys face!

Check out a short documentary on Mr. Trejo I found on ballerstatus.com created by one of my photographic heroes, now turned director, Mr. Estevan Oriol. His black and white film aesthetic translates very well to video.

Goodbye Nick!

One of my favorite bartenders, nay, mixologists Nick Jarrett is moving on to New York. He continued to work a couple nights in Philly, but the bus travel back in forth was too much.

We sent him out in style during his last night at his spot, the Franklin Mortgage Company, the place was filled with bartenders from around the city, and it was insane!

1st two images done by Lush Life Photography (before I got there!) The rest me!
